New leadership now guides the Austin College Student Assembly with the spring semester underway. The new officers began their terms January 1 but were officially inaugurated February 2 when students returned to campus following January Term.
New president Amie Johnson ’24 and vice president Drew Easley ’24 have set their own goals to enhance campus life and want to hear concerns from their fellow students. They will work with Grace Milligan ’24, secretary, and treasurer Munshif Adhianto ’24, plus a full team of representatives.
Amie, of Watauga, Texas, has served on Student Assembly for two semesters, working as a committee chair in both. “I joined the assembly not for myself, but for the ability to lead my community by my work as a representative,” she said. As president, I aim to continue to lead through service of the entire student body. It is my hope that I will be able to advocate for those who feel they have no voice in our community.” She is completing majors in English and anthropology.
Drew, of Dallas, Texas, has served three semesters as Clyce Hall Representative to Student Assembly. “I believe in servant leadership, where it is my duty to make sure the student government is responsive to the desires of the student body and respectfully hold the college administration accountable,” he said. “Every student deserves to know what is going on, and make their voice heard.” Drew is completing majors in political science and history.
Grace, of Austin, Texas, is beginning her first semester with Student Assembly. She plans a major in neuroscience.
Munshif, of Houston, Texas, has served three semesters in student government. He is completing a major in business administration.
The new executive team takes over from outgoing president Nicole Luna ’22 and vice president Carlos Estrada ’23, plus secretary Sadie Cavazos ’22 and Jacob Kobos ’22.
